Aux Quatre Coins

Aux Quatre Coins (2018-2022) is a collection of analog photographs taken in France from the north in Picardie to the south in Provence over the span of four years. After spending summers visiting my grandparents in France as a child, I moved there as an adult and called the hexagonal country home.

From celebrating Les Bleus’ World Cup win in 2018 to the revolutionary marches of “Les Gilets Jaunes”, it was a tumultuous first couple of years. The gatherings and protests took place every Saturday for over a year at roundabouts and other public spaces protesting government inaction and reform and sparked violent clashes with police.

In the wake of the first wave of Covid 19, summer arrived and seemed to appease for a short while. Summer marks the time in France to regroup and come back for fall ready to work, revolt, and what have you. If one’s lucky, it’s the time to revel in the sculpted countryside, take in the heat along the Seine or the Canal in Paris, and if you’re very lucky, escape to the beach or mountains. ☀︎
